20 Foods That Burn More Calories Than They Contain

Have you heard of the negative calorie foods, or negative calorie diet? I am not too sure if this is legit or not, but I could see how it could make sense. I know that it takes calories to digest foods, but is it really enough to make a difference?

This is how they say it works, for example an orange, which may contain 50 calories, it would take a certain amount of energy from your body to process all of the nutrients and vitamins within the orange. In doing so, you would burn more than 50 calories. However this is also highly dependent on the speed of your metabolism.

So could this really work? Well, it might be a good idea to maybe swap some bad snacks like cookies or chips for these fiber and vitamin filled snacks. It may be doing your waist line a favor more than you may know. However, keep in mind that if you only eat these items, it could lead to malnutrition.

Have you tried a diet like this? Did it work?

I’ve never tried this diet, but a friend of mine did do the Raw Foods Diet. Essentially, all you eat are raw fruits and vegetables. She did lose a lot of weight, but she also had to supplement her diet with other vitamins so as not to be malnourished. I think this could work for a very short period of time, but it definitely should not be a lifestyle change.

I disagree i you. it should be a lifestyle change. so what if youre missing a few vitamins here and there. do you realize that people actually dont eat enough of these? your body will thank you for yrsssss!

The only way to be healthy is to change your lifestyle, it is all about feeling good, and though losing weight may be important depending on your situation, feeling confident and beautiful with who you are is so much more important.

This is a hilariously misinformed post. The easy markers for noticing how incorrect it is are the foods with very high glycemic indices: papaya, apple, carrots, zucchini, oranges, etc… I’ll give you celery though – celery is all fiber and water.

There are some very high calorie, high sugar foods here that will quickly metabolize as fat. Orange juice (squeezed oranges) is actually one of those drinks that increases fat quickly.
