I want to be amazing. Wow, that sounds cocky. But wait, let me finish... I want to be amazing at being me. Kimberly Herbert, age 34. I want to live a life on purpose and rise to challenges and not let anything slow me down. Fail moving forward. Where did this confidence and motivation come from? Beautiful messes in my life. I thank God for those. If you allow them to, it seems like the ugliest times bring forth the most amazing gifts.
I always felt like I shouldn't want the best. Be content with “just fine” right? I mean really when you compare yourself to others you don't have it so bad. But that's no way to live. I want to be amazing! And I think you do too! Maybe its in all of us too. I think my favorite quote is from Albert Einstein, and I think its fair to say he truly had the right to be cocky, but chose not to.
Everybody is a genius.
But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree,
it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.
I believe that 100%. I mean, the man was an intellectual genius, right?? Your skills and talents are amazing and 100% unique to you. There is freedom in that. We don't have to hold ourselves up to someone else's standard of “genius” or perfection. For me the thirties was when I decided to leave behind the decade of finding myself, trying to be like other people, or what I thought other people wanted me to be. It started with taking a risk or following my gut. Small risks that built a confidence that rooted in me who I was and what I was made out of. I have lived more in my 4 years of 30s than I did in my 20s. I chose to get pregnant again after a traumatic postpartum with my first (totally worth it) son and I have a beautiful daughter because of it. I have visited places I wouldn't have before. I have pursued photography, which was such a giant leap of faith for me. Long hours of learning and big ticket items, along with convincing myself and others I could do it. In the end, it has given me such a confidence, joy and purpose that I had been missing.
Not ruled by fear is a big part as well. The “what ifs...” and trying to control the future. That's where faith steps in. “Do not worry about tomorrow.” Not always easy, but always the most fruitful and exciting. I know that you are a genius at being you too! No one can be you better! Don't get so paralyzed by fear that you don't choose to move forward and see what your life has to offer. This is the only one you have so, seriously, be amazing!
