I have decided to set goals for myself and stick to them. I need to get serious, act serious, and be serious if I am serious about having a baby. SERIOUSLY. Have I convinced you yet? Or a better question is, have I convinced myself yet?
My Pre-Pregnancy Goals:
1. Prenatals everyday
2. Get my weight in check
3. Slow down my caffeine intake
4. Start training for 5k
I am actually excited to start training for a 5k. I used to run all the time in my 20s. I ran a few 5k races and I loved them. I think that it will really help me get my body in shape and feeling good. It is actually really helpful for this blog too. It is crazy the ideas that come pouring through when I have that time to myself and just think.
I found a great website that has a schedule for training for a 5k race. My best time for a 5k was under 30 minutes. I obviously did not win any races with that time. In fact, I have a really good friend who runs marathons for a living and at one of the races I did with her, she ran ahead and won the 5k then came back and ran with me. So yeah, it is more about the running and the thrill than trying to win any medals. Besides, I would like to have shapely legs again. I can't remember the last time I have worn shorts! I would like to add a little more to my closet than just capri pants in every color.
Here is the chart I am going to follow called from Couch to 5k. I think that about sums up my recent activity. I admit it, seeing so many relax days written on here is very appealing to me. At the same time, I am sure if you were dedicated, you could get to the 5k in less than 10 weeks if you cut out some of the relax days. But really, who would want to? But at least the option is there.
So join me if you want. I do have weather in my favor. By the time I am ready to run, it will be perfect weather here in Phoenix, but if you are in the colder states, you can get started now, and run in the Feb or March races.
