October 4th is National Vodka Day. You might be familiar with this beverage, or some of you may know it as "The Water of Life." No really, this is a real holiday. Now we just need tomorrow off so we can celebrate like vodka deserves.
Vodka has become much more popular over the years with the latest flavors that have come out recently. You can choose any flavor to suit your tastes from cake flavor to marshmallow to even smoked salmon and bacon flavored vodka. Yes, even you savory seekers can be satisfied with a chilled fish flavored cocktail.
But for today, we are going to do a simple vodka recipe to celebrate, and one that is only 86 calories!
Minty Lean Lemon Drop
1 1/2 oz. Citrus vodka
1/2 oz. soda
2 crushed mint leaves
squeeze lemon
Splenda or sweetener for glass rim
lemon twist for garnish
Wet the rim of your glass with water or vodka and place rim on a plate with your desired sweetener.
Place all ingredients in a shaker and shake until chilled and pour into your martini glass with sweetened rim.
