Since becoming a blogger, photography has become a huge part of what I do. It is so important to make beautiful pictures to make your content look desirable. You want people to read your stuff, and sometimes your photos can make all the difference.
I was so excited to see a new surprise waiting for me on my porch. The Panasonic Lumix G5, a Digital Single Lens Mirrorless (DSLM) camera, was waiting patiently for me. I couldn’t wait to try it out and see what it could do!
That’s right, a Mirrorless camera, something that I was not familiar with. I currently have been taking all my photos with a DSLR (digital single-lens reflex,) so I was very interested to compare and see what this digital camera could do.
I decided to forego reading the instructions and just started playing with it; I wanted to see how user friendly it was. I know that with a DSLR, it is not so user friendly. I have taken a few classes on how to use my DSLR and still feel like I don’t know what I am doing.
The first thing I noticed about this Lumix single lens camera was that it had a touch screen! That made me giddy inside. I love that about this camera; I can touch where I want my point of focus to be. The touch screen also allows me to choose different filters to change the appearance or accentuate colors of my photos. I didn’t even know there was such a thing!
This camera includes 23 different Scene Modes and 14 different Creative Control modes to choose from. I took so many photos! I was having such a great time trying out all the different filters and comparing them.
You can see in my collage below 12 of the 14 different creative controls and how it makes each photo truly unique.
1. Expressive - 2. Retro - 3. High Key - 4. Low Key - 5. Sepia - 6. Dynamic Monochrome - 7. Impressive Art - 8. High Dynamic - 9. Cross Process - 10. Toy Effect -
11. Miniature Effect - 12. Soft Focus
A pretty Arizona winter pink flower taken with the soft focus creative control.
Arizona is known for their beautiful sunsets. I used three different scene modes to show some of the amazing differences it can make for the photo. You can focus on the blue sky, change it to focus and bring out the beautiful orange and pink of the setting sun, or both.
This was one of my favorite modes of the camera. I used the Glittering Illumination mode to bring out the twinkle in the lights. I think it is so festive. You can see the before & after.
I decided to take this camera and share with you some of my favorite things of my life. So many different filters and modes were used in different ways. I must stress to you, I did not edit any of these photos. If you are a blogger, photographer, or just love to take pictures, you know the hours that can be spent editing photos. I wanted to show you how great all of these photos came out without one second of photo editing involved!
When I take photos of my recipes, it is imperative that the food looks good. Let me reiterate, I did not edit any of these photos. Tell me these photos don’t make you salivate all over your computer!
