When Girl Meets 30

5 Pricey Hobbies That Are Surprisingly Worth It

December 16, 2025 By Erin Kennedy Leave a Comment

Hobbies can often be a great way to look after yourself, do something fun, and get rid of a bit of stress. But, that doesn’t mean everyone wants to settle for the more standard and obvious options, like learning to play a musical instrument and photography. Instead, you could want to go for a few more interesting hobbies.

Some of these could stand out a whole lot more than others, especially if you don’t mind spending a little extra on them. Five of these could be well worth it for various reasons. Once you’ve given them a go, you’ll see why so many people have loved them for years.

Skiing in Exclusive Resorts
Skiing is a relatively common vacation activity now, but there are plenty of exclusive resorts that could be more than worth looking into. While these usually cost a little more than an average resort, they offer a lot more amenities and comforts than you might expect. Touring these could end up being a great winter hobby.

Sailing & Yachting
There’s nothing quite like being able to take to the seas along the coast whenever you feel like it. This doesn’t have to be too out of reach as many people realise. With the right Premier boat dealer, for example, a yacht or boat doesn’t have to be outside of your budget. Once you have your new boat, this could be one of the better hobbies you’ll enjoy.

Classic Car Collecting
If you have a bit of money to spend, classic car collecting can be one of the more interesting hobbies to go for. While these can cost a decent bit of money, they often appreciate in value, so you could see this as a long-term investment, too. If you’ve a large enough garage, there are plenty of classic cars to pick from.

Horse Riding
There’s nothing quite like being able to hop on a horse and start riding it around for a while, whether it’s one you own yourself or if it’s just one you can rent. Even kids above a certain age can get into this, so this could even be a family-friendly option to go for. There’s no reason why you wouldn’t create a few memories with this one.

Art Collecting
Art collecting is usually seen as one of the more expensive areas to get into. It’s easy to see why, as there are plenty of pieces of artwork that’ve sold for millions. That doesn’t mean you need to spend nearly as much, as there are plenty of budget-friendly alternatives for this, too. There’s no reason why it mightn’t be a great hobby to go for.

While there are plenty of hobbies out there, it doesn’t mean all of them are as fun or as enjoyable as you’d want them to be. Thankfully, there are more interesting hobbies you could go for, especially if you don’t mind spending a little on them.
You’ll end up enjoying yourself and having a great time before you know it, no matter which hobby you go for.
