Thinking of Remodeling Your Home? If You Cannot Do It All, Tackle This One Room

June 9, 2026 By Erin Kennedy Leave a Comment

Remodeling your entire home can seem like a dream that may never come to fruition. After all, it is a very, very expensive endeavor to undertake. Not only is it costly, but you also need to live with the mess and noise involved with the project. Instead of taking on a whole-house remodeling project, focus on just one room. Make it an important one that will make you feel like you are visiting a spa every day. Start your home improvement project in the bathroom. Continue reading to learn more.

Create Beautiful Details
Think about the feeling you get when you walk into a spa or beautiful hotel. The details evoke a feeling deep inside you. They are lovely to look at. They are inspiring. And they are calming all at once. You can create that feeling in your own home, specifically in the bathroom. Add aesthetically pleasing architectural finishes and porcelain stoneware to help you feel like you are in a spa every time you step into the room by incorporating the finery of home furnishing enhancements into your space.

Prioritize Relaxation
If taking a bath at the end of a hectic day or lounging in a long soak on a lazy Saturday are your ideas of relaxation, then you need to prioritize the addition of a bathtub into the bathroom remodeling project. Work with a licensed architect to incorporate a shower and tub into your remodeled space. Consider what is important to you. Would you like an old-world claw tub? Is a built-in traditional tub and shower combination right for you? Or do you want to go all-in and find space for an extra-large tub with jets and a separate shower nearby? Deciding what your dream and bathroom goals are will help you design the best space for you.

Focus on Lighting
Lights matter quite a bit in the bathroom. You need bright, but not harsh, lights to get ready in the morning and see the finer details of your face. Good lighting will help you clean, as well. However, when it is time to dip your toes (and the rest of your body) into your new tub, you want balanced and calm lighting to illuminate the space. Ask your contractor to install a variety of lights. Start with bright lights above the vanities, add recessed ceiling lights on a dimming switch, and be sure to add lights in the shower, too.

Remember the Storage
There is something about a clean and uncluttered countertop. Instead of thinking that you will find space for everything that you keep in the bathroom, you should consider making a space for it all during the planning stages of remodeling.Take stock of everything you use in the bathroom. Items such as your toiletries, extra supplies, linens, toilet paper, and cleaning tools are all things to keep in mind when configuring your bathroom storage solutions.

Remodeling your bathroom is a way to give yourself a place of quiet comfort, respite, and peace in a busy world and a busy home. Create a comfortable space to get ready and relax.
