When Girl Meets 30

Our Childhood Nostalgia From ’70s and ’80s

June 4, 2011 By Erin Kennedy 13 Comments

The other day, my girlfriend Kamie wrote on Facebook that Jem and the Holograms was on TV. I can’t believe they have that show on again. It is the old show, with the bad makeup and hair from the ’80s. Her daughter thought it was hilarious and cheesy. Apparently you can reminisce by watching the old episodes on YouTube.
It got me thinking, and a little nostalgic, what else  the big toys from the ’70s and ’80s when all of us girls were kids? Here are some I found. I hope you enjoy memory lane like I did.

Jelly Shoes
Caboodles
Care Bears
Pound Puppies
Cabbage Patch Kids
Slap Bracelets
Pogo Ball
Cat’s Cradle
Scrunchies
Polly Pocket
Heart Eraser
My Pretty Mermaids
Easy Bake Oven

Ah, you are the same age as my daughter, or close enough. She had many of these same toys, and the jelly shoes. I saved a few of her toys, and I have my Chatty Cathy and Barbie and a few other dolls, all of which my granddaughter now plays with. So, keep some of those around, you will need them some day!

SO FUNNY. I think I had all of these, or close. Some others I remember? Rainbow Brite, Fraggle Rock, Teddy Ruxpin. GOOD TIMES!

How cute to see all this again. My favorites were the care bears, the mermaids and the jelly shoes :) Found you through the Super Stalker Sunday hop and am now following you on GFC. I hope you can follow back also; I’d appreciate it so much ;-) Have a happy Sunday!

Oh man, I totally remember all of this. Also, the Snorkles, Popples and Skip-It.

Why oh why did we ever wear jelly shoes?? They were so uncomfortable!!

The cat’s cradle photo is actually from my site, http://ifyoulovetoread.com/… — would you link to it rather than to the site that copied it from mine? Thanks!

These photos have been posted in literally thousands of pages and pinterest boards and I’d really like them to be linked to my site, they took me a long time to take and I had hoped that they would promote my books, not other people’s things.

    Thanks.
