Stop Wasting Time: 2 Simple Workflow Fixes Every Small Business Can Make This Month

Running a small business takes a lot of time and effort. It is a labor of love and a financial lifeline when you depend on it. Small businesses are also dynamic, almost living creatures. They change and grow as technology advances, new opportunities arise, and customers expect more out of how you conduct business. Continue reading to learn realistic ways you can improve your small business workflows right away.

Optimize Your Payment Processing Platforms
Whenever you are looking for change in your business, you should start with how you are getting paid. After all, money propels businesses forward. Take a hard look at the current systems you have in place to accept payments from your customers and merchants. Are they easy to use? Are they easy to adopt when a partnership is created? Do they have barriers to entry for your team?

If you are not satisfied with your answers, it is time to look for a more realistic and operational solution to accept payments. Take a look at the North merchant account provider solutions that are available for small businesses. You can incorporate their software into online and in-store payments, mobile app payments, and even track cash payments with ease. Your team will appreciate the new systems that make transactions seamless. And your customers will hardly notice, and that is a very good thing.

Ask Your Employees for Input
One of the best ways to create meaningful change and achieve more streamlined operations in your place of business is to talk with your team members. Ask your employees about their day-to-day jobs. Are they fulfilling their job descriptions, or do they have to color outside of the proverbial lines at times just to get the job done? What bottlenecks or hangups do they see in the workplace? And, most importantly, what are their suggestions and ideas for creating real change to make things work better?

The answers to these questions might surprise or possibly frustrate you. If you push back on the answers, ask yourself why. Sometimes, as a leader, you want things to stay the same because that is how you run things, and you think it works. As the saying goes, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Well, that is not always the best advice. Truly think about what your employees have offered to you in the form of their lived experiences while on the job. Work with them to incorporate new policies, practices, and workflows that will make your business better than ever. After that, continue to seek their input to continue improving.

The business world is constantly changing, and your small business needs to change to keep up with the times. Look through your business plan, model, and workflows to find ways to update systems, such as how you accept payments. Pay attention to what your employees say about their jobs, the daily minutiae, and everything in between. Their input is extremely valuable because they are the ones on the front lines of your company.
