When Girl Meets 30

Overnight Honey-Almond Cinnamon Yogurt Oatmeal

December 18, 2014 By Erin Kennedy 12 Comments

It’s the holiday season, and with that comes a lot of goodies and treats. More than likely they are calorie-ridden. Even though it is the month of lots of sweet treats and meals with family, that doesn’t mean I want to gain the usual holiday weight.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my treats and holiday goodies, but I try not to eat them every single day in December. In fact, I just want to stay on track and only give in for the special occasions.

Even though I live in Phoenix, there is still a bit of chill in the air, especially in the mornings. I want to have something that is comforting, healthy and on occasion, warm my soul.

One of my favorite breakfasts is my recipe for Overnight Oatmeal. I love it because it is hearty and because I use Siggy’s Icelandic-style strained yogurt that is made with simple ingredients and not a lot of sugar and a lot of protein, it keeps me full and satisfied. Siggi’s products do not contain any artificial preservatives, thickeners, sweeteners, flavors or colors and is made with milk from cows not treated with rGBH. So I can feel good about eating my daily breakfast and not worry about what I am putting in my body.

I can mix this recipe up with different toppings or different flavors of Siggy’s yogurt. Today’s recipe is a honey-nut with cinnamon. I like to use instant oatmeal because I want the texture of my oat meal to be a bit softer. But if I want to warm it up in the morning or have more texture, I will use steel-cut oats. This recipe is fantastic because I make a few for the week and just stick them in the fridge and in the morning I just grab one and I am out the door. To me it tastes good cold, room temperature or warmed up in the microwave for those particular chilly mornings.

Siggi’s rather delicious yogurts with simple ingredients and not a lot of sugar.
Try delicious flavors like vanilla, pumpkin & spice, and mixed berries & açai, power up your breakfast with their recipes and print a coupon.

That sounds delicious. I am not a big oatmeal fan on its own, but when it’s flavored like this, I love it.

I don’t want to gain a single pound myself over the holidays. This is such a nice and happy post for me – since I’ve been seeing way too many holiday dishes the past weeks. I love yogurt and this recipe looks healthy and yummy to me!

I wish I liked oatmeal. You’ve made it look so appealing presented like that.
