When Girl Meets 30

2012 New Year’s Resolution for My Thirty Spot

January 4, 2012 By Erin Kennedy 1 Comment

I am very excited for 2012. I am putting out into the universe that it is going to be the best year yet, and my blog will see things and become capable of things I never even thought of. My Thirty Spot is just about a year old and I can’t believe all the amazing friends I have made, blogs I have discovered and opportunities that have come my way. I know that it will just get better.

I just got a ticket to the Altitude design conference held in SLC in 2 weeks and I couldn’t be more excited! I am so excited to go to the classes, learn many more things about how to improve in blogging, and meet so many fantastic ladies. This is going to be the beginning of a great year!

I am pretty proud of myself for mostly following through on my 2011 resolutions. Some resolutions I succeeded more than others. This year I decided to do two lists. A personal resolutions list and a resolutions list for My Thirty Spot.

My personal resolutions are similar to a few I made last year. I did improve in some areas, but I want to make sure some of the things I need to do stick. So that is the main resolution.

    • Wear eye cream every night, and before make-up. This was on my list last year, and although I did a lot better than past years, I need to make sure that it is every single night! I am not getting any younger!
    • Wear SPF everyday. This was a successful resolution for 2011. My use of SPF went up 110%! However, I want to step it up and make sure that I wear it on my hands, face, neck and chest no matter what. Even if I go out to run to the bank, I need to make sure that is on those important areas. I use Lancome Bienfait UV SPF 50+ Facial Sunscreen. I love it because it is light and doesn’t interfere with my makeup.
    • Wash make-up off every night. Not very good at this if I don’t wear makeup. I can really see a difference when I don’t wash. I have no excuse since I have the clarisonic Mia that I am in love with. So my resolution is to wash every night no excused.
    • Take a mulit-vitamin everyday and a calcium vitamin. ( I bought a bunch, but didn’t stick to taking them. I am getting a bunch of vitamins in the mail this week, so that it will motivate me to take them. This is really important for my anti-aging regimen.
    • Lose weight. Ah, the cliche wagon. Could I find something more original you ask? Nah. I gotta. I am working with Weight Watchers and I want to prove to them, and myself that I can get back to my rockin weight. It is not too far, but I want to prove that we can do it in our 30s, just like we did in our 20s. It.Will.Be.Done.
My Thirty Spot
Now on to my resolutions for my baby. My Thirty Spot resolutions for 2012:
There are a few things that have been rolling around in my head for 2012.  A few things I might try and other things I need to put more focus on. Any input or ideas from you, my beloved readers are always welcomed. I want to give you what you crave and make this blog fab for everyone.

Dating: This year I am going to start focusing on more topics and articles on dating in your 30s. It really is so different than when we were in our 20s, and if you are single it would be nice to get or give some advice on the subject. I will definitely be making this a priority this year to write about.

Love: With the dating topics, I wanted to incorporate more love articles too. Marriage and relationships and how to better them or keep them strong. I thought of starting a guest post feature called ‘Keeping love alive, ‘ or, ‘Making Love Last.’ Sharing stories on how you keep your marriage or relationship fresh and alive. Sometimes, we all need a little reminder and love to hear those stories of how their relationships work. Especially those stories on how to be married 20, 30, 40, 50+ years. Thoughts?

Motherhood: At the beginning of the year I had a lot of stories and topics on motherhood and babies, but that has sort of fallen to the wayside. I am going to bring that back. It is hard to think of many topics when I don’t have the experience, but I know it is super important for our age. I am sure when we get pregnant, that will be all I will be writing about, and you will all be begging me to stop!

30 Love: If you haven’t caught on yet, my menu tab for 30 love is all about giving love to our age. So all posts and positive stories about women in their 30s go there. It may get confusing since you may of thought it was about relationships but it isn’t. Some of my favorite posts like ‘Women We Love in their 30s,‘ have also fallen back. I am bringing that back with a vengeance and helping us remember why we rock!

Forum? I have considering implementing a forum to the website. Would this be of interest to you? Able to talk to other women our age about dating, love, diet (avoid these 4 diet mistakes), beauty tips, anything? What do you think?

These are my resolutions and I have every intention of fulfilling all of them. I tried to make them realistic. Thanks for reading and Happy New Year to you all! Again, it will be the best year yet!

What are some of your resolutions? I would truly love to know. Maybe I am missing out on some!
