I know, I know. No one is ready to give up summer that easily. Hasn’t it just been great? However, whether or not we are ready for it, Fall is right around the corner and retailers are getting ready. You may have already noticed the transition in some of your favorite stores as the lightweight knits and shorts have moved out and the embellished blazers, sweaters and pants are moving in. I am not saying you need to start dressing for warm weather yet, but it is a good idea to begin looking at your closet and identifying those key pieces you may be missing for when the weather starts to change. To help you out, I have identified some MUST HAVES for this year to keep you on trend as we say goodbye to Summer and hello to Fall.
1. Outerwear
When it comes to outerwear, I have three absolutely favorites that I consistently wear through cold weather. The structured wool coat, the go with everything camo jacket, and of course, the classic black blazer. Of all the outwear I own, these get the most use (though I am a sucker for a cape and do pull mine out A LOT…just as a side note). There are a ton of versions of each but I like the simplicity of these three.

2. Leopard
I am SO very excited that leopard is not leaving us just yet. Though it is a print that stands out, I find it to be an incredible neutral that goes with everything and spices up any classic look. Leopard is being done in a variety of colors and pieces so there really is something for everyone, though I will always recommend having a classic pair of leopard heels.

3. Winter White
I can’t tell you how excited I am that fashion has finally thrown out the “no white after Labor Day” rule and is bringing white into the Fall wardrobe. This is partially because we get such warm weather through the Fall here in Southern California that it feels like summer anyway and partially because I think white is such a beautiful accent to other darker, Fall colors.

4. Leather
Leather is a HUGE favorite of mine. Nothing beats a classic leather jacket or pants. They work with everything and add just the amount of edge to a look without being over the top. If you would rather go with a faux leather, there are SO MANY options that look exactly like leather. It is pretty amazing how hard it is to tell the difference. Either as an investment piece or a more reasonable on-trend item, you really cannot go wrong.

5. The Structured Bag
Of course no look is complete without a fabulous bag on your arm. Structured bags are in which I love because I feel it is a return to the classic, sophisticated woman. With the update of some Fall colors, it becomes the perfect accessory for the upcoming cooler months.

Sarah Ollenburger is a 34-year-old mother to three and wife to one, trying to stay sane in Orange County. Some days you will find her orchestrating events while other days she will be knee deep in play dough. She is a fashion addict and do not believe that she should have to give up fabulous clothes simply because someone calls me “Mommy”. She created “Juggling in Heels” as an outlet to laugh about parenthood and marriage, and of course, obsess about fashion.

Love leather! Even though the bf calls me Michael Jackson when I wear it and thinks it is funny because I do NOT seem like a leather girl, I don’t care. Feels like a bombshell look to me :)
