When Girl Meets 30

Celebrating Five Years of Love

April 28, 2012 By Erin Kennedy 1 Comment

My husband and I celebrated our five year dating anniversary this week on Wednesday. When we met over five years ago, we were both servers at a restaurant and all of the employees would go to the bar next door to have a few drinks before we went home. I had only been working at the restaurant for about two months, but I knew I liked this guy. I convinced him to come out with us, and we ended up only talking to each other. I gave him my  number and while I was driving home, he called me and told me that he happened to have an extra ticket to the baseball game for the next day, and asked me if I would like to go. Unbeknownst to me, he didn’t have an extra ticket, but as soon as I said yes, he rushed home and bought two tickets for the game.
That was five years ago, and every year since, we have gone to a baseball game for some dogs and some beers. It has actually been great because my husband is a huge, I mean HUGE Phillies fan since he grew up in Philly, and for the last 3 years, the Phillies have been in town to play the Diamondbacks this specific week. So if you ask me, it could be a little meant to be. Here is our day. A little baseball and pizza. It was perfect.

This is the only photo I took of us this day. For a blogger, you think I would take more pictures of us.

My pizza; Margherita
If you live in Phoenix, or ever come to visit Phoenix, you must, MUST go to the restaurant Pizzeria Bianco. It is my husband’s favorite pizza ever and it was on Oprah’s list for best pizza in the country and is continually on restaurant reviewers top ten pizza in the nation. It is brick oven and in a little house. This place is notorious for waiting for a table for hours. Yes, you read that right HOURS! Once while on a double date, we waited 4 hours for a table. Granted, they have a wine bar next door, and needless to say, we were a little tipsy by the time we got to our table.
However, we heard a rumor that they decided to open for lunch and dinner, so we went over there at 4pm expecting to wait about an hour, but we got right in! No wait! If you live in Phoenix, you know this in unheard of! I witnessed many people come in and ask how long the wait was, and their jaw dropped when they were told that they could sit right away. So yeah, this is a place to check out for sure! So good!

My cute hubby gave me five roses for our five years. So sweet.

Happy Anniversary! Funny story. We’re celebrating our 20 year dating anniversary soon. Oh, and being from Chicago, we’re crazy (and particular) about our pizza. Thanks for the tip, then, on where to go next time we’re in Phoenix!
