I had heard about the Clarisonic Mia face exfoliator for awhile now. I had always heard good things. I had wanted to try some sort of an exfoliator for some time since I write all the time how it it good for your pores, preventing acne, and is actually a good at preventing wrinkles. I wanted to try it even more when Oprah had it on her favorite things list in 2007. So for years I had thought about it, desired to have it, but didn’t really make much of an effort to get it. Now I am in my 30s and my facial skin care is so much more important to me now.
So I got it.
I can’t begin to express to you through my writing how much I am in love with the face brush Mia. I brush my teeth and brush my face. It seems to make sense to me. I have used it for about 2 weeks. I wanted to give it some time to see the results it can give. I use this thing 2 times a day and more if I take it in the shower.
Let me start off by telling you what my face is like. I have combination skin to the utmost degree. I have a very oily T spot and dry cheeks. I have dry patches on my face from being dried out, but acne from being too oily. I really can’t win. I have had blackheads on my nose for years and nothing has worked to get rid of them. I also have hormonal acne, it is actually a very big indicator of when my period is going to start. It is my menstrual cycle barometer. Who needs a calendar when you’re in your 30s and still getting acne. But not this month. I was surprised when my monthly came and I didn’t break out. This to me is worth every penny of my new Clarisonic Mia. Not to mention, my blackheads have cleared up completely. This was the biggest shocker to me since I have tried every cleanser on the market and blackhead removers to get rid of them.
My face does not have the dry patches anymore either. Those can be embarrassing because makeup can actually accentuate them and make your face look splotchy.
The clarisonic vacuums pores and removes dirt makeup and oil. I have washed my face to get the makeup and eye makeup off, then used my Clarisonic and still saw gunk on my brush when I was done. It is timed for 1 minute and will shut off automatically. It is also water-proof so I take it to the shower to exfoliate the back of my arms and my décolletage (for anti-aging.) I have rough skin on the back of my arms, and my husband says they feel a lot softer.
It uses patented sonic frequency of more than 300 movements per second to clean, soften and smooth your skin. My skin tone is more even, and I actually don’t need as much foundation. In just 60 seconds, the micro-massage action removes 6X more makeup and 2X more dirt and oil than cleansing with your hands alone.
I gotta be honest and say I get excited to use it, and it helps to motivate me to use my nightly eye and face cream and keep my anti-aging regimen in tact. It doesn’t need batteries, it charges with a plug in charger, but you don’t plug it into the Mia, it holds onto it with a magnet and charges your brush through the plastic. It is so cool. That is how you can take it into the shower. Once you charge it, it can work up to 3 weeks before your next charge!
You can purchase your Clarisonic Mia at Clarisonic.com for $119.00, it may seem like a lot, but I must tell you that it is totally worth it. The price is usually $149.00 so it may be on sale at this time. This price comes with a gentle hydro cleanser that I really like. Or, if you purchase your Clarisonic Mia at Sephora.com $3 of every purchase of the Pink Mia (for breast cancer awareness month) will go to the charity Look Good Feel Better.org.
I highly recommend this product and I hope that it will change your life, and face routine like it did for me.
Clarisonic Mia was sent to me from Clarisonic for review. All the opinions expressed are my own.

This sounds like something I need. I get hormonal acne too. Who needs teen issues in their 30s, I certainly don’t.

I’ve been on the fence about buying one, but I think it’s time! Thanks for the review.

Thank you for this review!!! Your skin sounds a lot like mine. I’ve thought about getting a clarisonic years ago, when the hype hit a lot of beauty forums, but decided against it. I must look into picking one up, now that I no longer use acne meds…

I just bought this about 3 weeks ago and I cannot agree with your review enough. It’s worth every penny of the cost.
My skin looks smoother, feels smoother and breakouts are much less, especially on my jawline and chin. And breakouts that happen are healed much faster. I love it. I got it for the sale price too. Great review!

I was thrilled to discover Clarisonic, a total believer in the cleansing power of sonic power tools. But Clarisonic is a scam. I overlooked one important feature–YOU CAN’T CHANGE THE BATTERY. I paid over $100! for something I now use like any other scrub brush, but it is heavier. I called Clarisonic a loooong time ago. They know this and they don’t care. Huge profits as is. As for the sonic aspect–massage your face with the back of your sonic toothbrush. You get a much greater sonic effect, and you already bought it.

I love my Clairsonic Mia! I bought it 2 weeks ago and have already seen a dramatic improvement. I am 45, with major blackheads, dry patches and the beginning of fine lines. The blackheads have been impossible to get rid of my entire life – the Mia has changed that!!!! Its like they are self extracting and disappearing daily. I wish I had not worried about the cost, battery, etc years ago and purchased this item. I have used Oil of Olay scrubbing brush for 2 years and it doesn’t even come close to what the Clairsonic has done to improve my skin! Go buy one today!!!
Whitney says
what cleanser are you using to get rid of the blackheads?
My Thirty Spot says
Hi Whitney,
It isn’t the the cleanser that gets rid of my blackheads. I have never found a cleanser do that. It was only once I started using the Clarisonic that my blackheads went away.
Thanks for your comment!

Would you mind sharing what cleanser you do use when you use your Clarisonic? I received the Clarisonic Plus as a Christmas present, but really haven’t seen a big difference yet. I thought I might need a different cleanser.
My Thirty Spot says
Hi Leslie,
I actually started noticing a difference with my blackheads in just a few days after using the clarisonic, with different types of cleansers. However, I have been sticking with Cetaphil and I really like it.
Try that and hopefully it works.
Leslie says
Thanks, Erin. I have Cetaphil but I have been using Neutrogena. I’ll switch over and see what happens.
