Emily Blunt, 30, looks stunning with a bolder rocker look on the cover of the May issue of InStyle. She’s prepping for a big month with the April release of Arthur Newman with Colin Firth.
On married life to John Krasinski: “Meeting John really changed my life. When I feel the support that I have from him, I feel invincible. There’s someone behind you on your good days, and someone in front of you on your bad days.”
On how she feels about acting: “I want to play characters that aren’t necessarily typical. I’m interested in people who you might think are ugly on the inside, or lonely, or even majestic—all of that stuff. I’m a person who likes to sit back and watch the world. Acting allows me a place to use everything I’ve absorbed.”
On her style: “I do see the joy of dressing up, like when I’m at an event that allows for it. But on a day-to-day basis, I don’t necessarily think about it too much.” Off-duty: “I like stuff that is a little edgy and more urban. I’m not a very girlie girl. I don’t really wear dresses in my everyday life. I spend my life in sweatpants and covered in mud.”
On Hollywood: “I see Hollywood as a bubble that you pop your head into every now and again. I never get fully immersed in it.”
On her big husband and a big dog: “I have an enormous husband – he’s 6’3″! – and an enormous dog.”
She looks forward to the future: “Whatever those good things are, I don’t even know,” she says. “But I am a hopeful person.”
