When Girl Meets 30

Homemade Bath Bomb Balls

June 21, 2011 By Erin Kennedy 1 Comment

Sometimes you just need to take a minutes for yourself. A nice warm bath, glass of wine, candles and maybe a little soothing music. If your husband is willing to give you that time while he watches the kids. Or if you are willing to give yourself that time. It is very important that you don’t forget about youself and your sanity. A quick half hour can really help keep your wits.

Bath bomb balls have really become popular lately. They give off a wonderful smell in the bathroom that stays for hours, and the balls fizz and make it like a homemade spa. It is not too difficult to make your own, and you will know exactly what is in them and saves a few $$$$.

Ingredients-

-Cornstarch 1/2 cup
-Epsom Salt 1/4 cup
-Baking Soda 1 cup
–Citric Acid 1/2 cup (can be found at Whole foods or local pharmacy)
-3/4 tablespoon water
-Essential Oil {optional}
-Olive Oil 2 3/4 tablespoons

1. In a bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of citric acid. Mix well until there are no lumps.
2. Add 1/4-cup of baking soda to the mixture. Stir until you have a very dry dough-like consistency.
3. In a second bowl, mix 3 tablespoons of olive oil..
4. Add 2-3 drops (or 1/4 of a teaspoon) of your favorite essential oil(s) for scent.
5. Very slowly and carefully, add your oil and essential oil mixture to the first bowl that has the dry dough mixture. Blend everything very well.
6. Lay out a piece of waxed paper. Using your hands, roll the mixture into balls that are smaller than golf balls. You can also use and ice cream scoop or those plastic eggs from Easter to mold.
7. Place your bath bomb balls on the waxed paper and let them dry for several hours in a warm and dry place. After that, you will need to move them to an open box or plastic container to dry for several more days. Make sure you dry long enough so you don’t create a gooey bath bomb.

Enjoy your “Me” time!
