How to Match Your Shapewear to Your Dress of Choice

December 21, 2022 By Erin Kennedy Leave a Comment

If you’ve recently bought a new piece of shapewear but you’re apprehensive about wearing it, or you’re not sure what to pair it with, then we’re here to help! Shapewear is totally versatile and can be worn underneath your favorite dress, assuming they pair well together. In this blog, we are going to explore different shapewear items, what types of dresses they go with, and how they can be styled. Let’s go.

Shapewear Knickers and Shorts

Your shapewear underwear can be teamed with most dresses, even if they are skimpier ones. Your briefs should be comfortable under your dress and not visible to anyone. Shapewear shorts can also be worn underneath longer length dresses. If the dress is tight, then your shapewear bottoms can work hard for you underneath your clothes. Depending on what type you have, they could sculpt your stomach, smooth out your figure, lift your behind, and overall make you look fabulous in your favorite dress!

Shapewear Bras

Shapewear bras offer comfy support whilst giving your chest an extra lift – you can even choose how much support you want from them. These can really enhance your chest area and make you feel great. They typically have two straps but sometimes you can also find strapless versions. These should be easy to style with most types of dresses and can go unseen underneath your outfit.

Shapewear Bodysuit

Bodysuits are great because they are so versatile. However, whether or not they go with your dress depends on what bodysuit you have and what style you wear on top. If it is a dress that covers you up more but still shows off your figure, this could be an ideal combo with your shapewear bodysuit. If your shapewear is being worn under your outfit, it usually looks better if the dress covers it up properly.

Waist Trainers

Waist trainers will be able to go with most dresses easily, as they can go undetected underneath the majority of styles. These can effortlessly cinch in your waist with super support. So, a dress that shows off your shape would be the best option to make the most out of your look. You will be amazed at the hourglass shape that a waist trainer produces!

Maternity Shapewear

Even if you’re pregnant, you’re not excluded from the fun! You have shapewear options that can sculpt and lift the majority of your body, from your thighs to your breasts. Due to its stretchiness, your shapewear should be able to adapt to your changing body. So, whichever piece you get, you can incorporate it with your maternity dresses and really glow throughout your pregnancy.

All in all, you can make most shapewear pieces work with the right dress. You just need to take into consideration that you’re probably going to want your dress to cover up your shapewear, so you’ll have to figure out which combos pair together nicely. However you choose to wear your shapewear, we’re sure you’ll look amazing!
