I was invited to a birthday surprise party tonight at a bar. I was reluctant to accept the invitation because going to the bar can sabotage any diet (eat this, NOT this). From the delicious bar food, to the calorie filled drinks. Sure I could suck down some watery 64 calorie beer, or stick to a glass of white wine, but that just doesn’t sound like celebrating. I am not really into random liquor and soda. I like flavor to my drinks. I wanted to go in with a game plan, otherwise I know I would order a bunch of beers, or Mojito’s and say to hell with it. Especially when the nachos come out. I don’t want to miss out on having fun with my friends because I don’t want to ruin my diet (eat this, NOT this). I have done that too many times and enough is enough.
So it got me thinking. What else is out there?
I love margarita’s, but do you know how many calories are in one of those puppies? An average size can have up to 600 calories! Then I remembered watching on one of the many Housewives realty shows that they have talked about Skinny Margarita. Bethany Frankel has made a killing marketing this drink, and cheers to her for being business savvy and picking up on that. However, before she was putting her recipe into bottles, she was just ordering it at the bar. I thought it would be a tasty drink for my party tonight, but I never really knew what the recipe was, so I decided to look it up, and share to those who didn’t know either. Hopefully I am not the only one who has not been enjoying this little treat, and saving calories at the same time. The only issue I will have to conquer? Not having so many that I eat the freakin nachos anyway.
How to order your margarita at the bar or restaurant:
On the rocks
2 oz. white, or premium tequila
1/2 oz. of either Triple Sec, Grand Marnier, or Cointreau
4 lime wedges squeezed into drink
Low carb and only 150 calories.
