Turning 98 is one bad-ass move. A couple of weekends ago my family and I went to Carson City, Nevada to celebrate my grandmother’s 98th birthday. I am always in awe when I am around her. I have always admired her strength and perseverance. I can’t believe she has lived almost a century, and I am always thinking about what she went through in her life. From living through the depression in New York City, and seeing first hand World War II. That is just the tip of the iceberg of the life she has lived.
My Grandma loving her gift from her only great-grand child. 6 Grandchildren, and 1 great-grand-child.
My brother, me, grams, my mom and the hubs.
Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Not sure what happened to the cake and why it is falling apart. The girl at the bakery said that she has never seen that happen before. My husband said that if we had a dime for every time we have heard “This never happens!” We would be crazy rich!
Luckily she didn’t notice, or didn’t say anything if she had. It tasted good anyhow.
My plate. My Aunt and mom worked all day on this meal for everyone. Pretty tasty, even if my picture doesn’t look so appetizing. I didn’t take any ham. Not a ham kinda girl.
The hubs and I decided to stay one night in Reno before we headed home. We went to brunch in Carson City, and it was one of the best meals I have ever had. It was in a little victorian home that is 100 years old, and right on Carson City Street. It is called Adele’s. I had the filet mignon eggs Benedict. The hubs had Sour Dough French Toast. Highly recommend if you are ever in Carson City, NV.
In Reno, we had lunch and were warned that the restaurant has huge portions, so I talked my husband into sharing. Luckily we did. This is our Chicken & Waffles and it was crazy good, and so, so big. I then got my first jackpot ever! I have never won at slot machines ever! So I had to share my win! I was so excited that I took a picture!
