For one of my new years resolutions was to try to fit in spending more time with my girlfriends. It can be tough to get together with them as much as we would like to. So many things get in the way now that were never a problem in our 20s. Work, kids, making dinner, running errands, trying to make time for your significant other, etc, etc, etc. Where do girlfriends fit in? Well now we have health reasons why we need to get together and gab.
One study found that engaging friendships predict longevity better than even the closest family can bring. It also can be a wonderful anti-aging regimen just spending time with your gal pals. It releases stress from talking and laughing and comparing life stories can help you not to feel as though the whole world is not just on your shoulders. The study also stated it can protect you against obesity, depression and heart disease. Just some of the problems it can help. I am sure you can look back and realize that you feel energized and more upbeat after a laugh fest with your best friend over the phone. In person only releases that many more endorphins.
The moral of this story is your friends keep you young. Period. Don’t let those friendship slip through your fingers because life gets in the way, because your girlfriends can help make life that much sweeter, and keep you looking young.
