When Girl Meets 30

In the Oven Dried Strawberries – Healthy Snack

April 18, 2012 By Erin Kennedy 5 Comments

This is suppose to be a fab treat. I had a some left over strawberries from my Fruit Fat Flush from last week. They are just dried in the over for a few hours and suppose to taste like candy and be super healthy. A nice alternative healthy snack that can tame that candy craving.
It is so easy. Just put your berries on a cookie sheet and place them far enough apart. Bake in the oven at 210 degrees for three hours.
So I tried it. Here is what is suppose to look like:
Here are what mine looked like:
Try not to forget them in the oven.  I think that these were in there for 5 hours. They never burned and actually just ended up being dried berries, like after being dried in a dehydrator. They are still good, a little tart. It reminded me of the dried strawberries in the Special K cereal with dried berries.
So, if you want to try this out, just stick to the three hours and set a timer. Or, if you can’t afford a dehydrator, just put your fruit in the oven for 5 – 6 hours. Yum!

Hi Erin. I was curious on how to store these. I just made a batch as directed above & they are still moist.

      Hi Linda,
I am not quite sure since my strawberries didn’t work out. But I am sure they would be fine in plastic containers. Glad yours worked out.

WTF you wayyyy over cooked them. Guys if you want them to be red and look pretty like the picture then you only bake them for 3-4 hours MAX. NO MORE or you dry them out wayyyy too much they get bitter because all the sugar disapates. Good luck and don’t over cook em!!!!! Hahah
