I have always loved big hats. After the Royal wedding, I might love them even more now. I want to have an occasion to wear one. Well in the US, there is that occasion. The Kentucky Derby. It is the big hat extravaganza. If you don’t live in Louisville, Kentucky to sport your new head designs, then you can check your state to see if they have a horse track. They also celebrate the day and many ladies will show up with their glamorous hats. Even if you don’t have plans to see any horses races, does not mean you can’t enjoy seeing the hats that are out there. Especially if you are still coming down from the high of the Royal wedding, and you need a little fix.
Other places you can sport a great fascinator or hat:
Wedding – This is a perfect place to wear one, especially a formal wedding. It is also a great way to meet men. They can’t resist a lady with some head candy. It gives them an excuse to start a conversation.
Cocktail Party – Another good party to wear your head gear. You are sure to be the hit of the party.
Art Opening – Perfect place to show your designed head art.
Event – Great conversation starter and a place to get noticed and lots of attention.
How To Wear Them:
Keep Your Hair Simple – The hair piece is what everyone is looking at, so you don’t want your hair to be too distracting that it just looks a mess. A pony or chignon would look perfect with your piece.
Don’t Go Overboard – Aka Princess Beatrice and her now infamous pretzel hat. There is no reason to have your hat 10 feet off your head. Start small and simple and grow into your style if this is new for you.
Keep in Proportion – If you have a small head, don’t over power it with a huge hat. If you have a big head don’t get a little bitty thing.
