When Girl Meets 30

Photoshopped Women in their 30s – Should It Be Banned?

September 10, 2011 By Erin Kennedy 2 Comments

We have all seen the amazing photos and magazine covers that makes women look glamorous and flawless. I think it has made us all feel as though we can never attain the perfect bodies and skin that the photos portray. I am sure it was a lot harder on us and our self-esteem when we were younger, but I don’t think it helps even now that we are in our 30s. Even though we know in the back of mind that most photos were photoshopped, it can still make us feel inferior, or that we can never obtain the beauty that is apparently expected for us as a woman.
What do you think? Do you think that photoshopping should be banned altogether? Check out the video, it raises some interesting points and questions.

Jessica Alba, 31

Kim Kardashian, 30

Laila Rouass, 36
Penelope Cruz, 37
Cameron Diaz, 39

Piper Perabo, 34
Angelina Jolie, 36
Charlize Theron, 36
I think she looks beautiful natural. What were they trying to do here?

Fergie, 36

Heidi Klum, 38

This puts things in perspective now doesn’t it. Thing is if I was super famous and in magazines, no matter how confident I was with myself, I’d be super bummed that how ‘I am’ is not good enough. Imagine having been photoshopped – while the world puts you on a pedestal for your beauty. That’s messed up! I bet they have problems within. There should be no photoshopping. Us people, should just be people.

Why should something be banned or outlawed just because you don’t like it, your feelings get hurt by it and you’ve chosen to be negatively affected by it? Is there any logic behind this?

So you don’t like photo shopping?..Okay, so don’t have your pics photo shopped, don’t look at photos that are photo shopped, avoid anything to do with photo shop if it makes you feel better, but don’t try and tell other people what they are or are not allowed to do. This basically goes for anything if you want to live a moral and respectable life. The world cannot be molded perfectly to fit your needs or wants, BUT you can choose how you are affected by these things. It’s up to you.
