You don’t need a fairy godmother to turn a pumpkin into an ice bucket. Just choose a large, wide pumpkin, cut off the top third with a serrated knife or keyhole saw, and scrape out the pulp and seeds. Line the gourd with a glass or plastic bowl to prevent it from becoming water-logged. If the pumpkin opening is a bit too small for the bowl, carefully shave the inside edge with a spoon. This is the cutest idea for Halloween or Thanksgiving. I will be stuffing my pumpkin cooler with pumpkin beer. Thank you Martha Stewart for pulling it out again. I don’t know how she thinks of this stuff. Such a good idea and yet, never crossed my mind. But this will be a fall staple for my parties from here on out.
