I am happy to share my homemade sausage biscuits and gravy recipe. My husband LOVES this recipe. In fact, I think it may be his favorite thing I make. I get the request to make this all the time. It is so delicious. He said that I have ruined him to order it at any restaurant, because they can never compete. I’ll take that compliment.
The gravy is super easy to make, and it doesn’t take too much time. Most of the time is getting it to thicken. But I can whip this recipe up in about 20 minutes.
I guess I shouldn’t say that it is completely homemade because I buy Pillsbury biscuits, I don’t make homemade biscuits, and I never have. Who has the time? But my gravy is homemade, easy and so, so, so delicious if I don’t say so myself.
Ingredients:
1 pound Jimmy Dean Hot Recipe Sausage Roll
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons butter
3 cups whole milk
Salt and black pepper to taste
Pinch red pepper flakes (optional)
8 prepared biscuits
Directions:
Place sausage in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until evenly brown. Remove sausage with a slotted spoon, leaving the drippings in the pan. Stir in the butter until melted. Add flour, and stir until smooth. Reduce heat to medium, and cook until light brown. Gradually whisk in milk, and cook until thickened. Season with salt and pepper, and stir in cooked sausage. Reduce heat, and simmer for 12 to 15 minutes. If gravy becomes too thick, stir in a little more milk.
If you want to go the extra step and make your own biscuits. Check out this recipe from the food network.

Hi Erin – that sausage gravy looks WONDERFUL! My hubby makes that dish at our house…we both love it! Thanks for the invite to your blog party. I love being a part…and linked up my recipe for no bake reese’s peanut butter squares and pinwheel jello flowers too. This blog ‘theme’ is great…and thanks for letting me be a part, though I’m almost twice as old as you. =)

Biscuits and gravy is one of the dishes I miss most from home. My grandpa always made the best gravy. Yum.

Look so yummy.. I’m making it this weekend for the hubby and kids. How many does this recipe serve?
My Thirty Spot says
HI Marissa,
It actually depends on how much gravy you like to cover your biscuits, as you can see, it is a lot. But it does serve at least 4 servings for a moderate amount of gravy. Honestly, I always double this milk and flour so it will make two meals. My hubs likes it better the next day. Allows the sausage to marinate.
Thanks! Enjoy!
