This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Swisspers. All opinions are 100% mine.
I am a huge advocate for making sure we remove our makeup before we go to bed. It is actually one of my most popular subject and poises a lot of question from readers; “Is it really that important?” “How is the best way to remove makeup without hurting my skin?” “What are some options to remove makeup in a hurry?”
I know that for many of us, taking off our makeup each night is such a chore. I know too many girlfriends who will fall asleep on the couch before they get a chance to do their nightly skincare routine. When you’re super tired, taking care of your skin can be pushed to the back burner.
It could mean that you are not taking off your makeup the right way, or you may not even take your makeup off or wash your face at all.
I have joined up with Swisspers to help you understand the importance of “Sleeping Naked.” Or in other words, taking better care of your skin and going to bed makeup-free.
Studies have shown that 50% of women do not remove their makeup every day, and of those that do, 80% don’t take it completely off, which could be the reason for any skin issues you might be having.
Swisspers has challenged reality stars, Emily Maynard from “The Bachelorette” and Danielle Jonas from “Married to Jonas,” to not only remove their makeup each night, but to remove it properly.
You are invited to take the pledge to Sleep Naked with either of these lovely ladies. The reality star with the most pledges will host a virtual party on National Sleep Naked Night, where she will answer fan questions in a live video chat, and have a $5,000 donation made in her name to their chosen charity.
I also challenge you to visit the Sleep Naked Face-Off Page (www.swisspers.co) to take a pledge to “Sleep Naked” and adopt a beauty routine for cleaner and healthier skin.
Benefits of Sleeping Naked
- Prevents Wrinkles Removing your makeup helps to prevent skin inflammation, which can generate free radicals and collagen breakdown that is associated with aging. Bonus, proper removal of lip makeup will protect your lips and keep them from also aging prematurely.
- Dry Out Your Skin – You want to allow your skin to breathe and rejuvenate through the night. Once it can breathe it helps maintain its natural tone and the skin cells are able to repair themselves. Also, if you leave eye makeup on, it can make the skin on your eyelids dry out and thus, look older.
- Smaller Pores – Your pores can appear larger when makeup gets clogged in them. This can also create bacteria in your pores which can cause irritation and acne.
- Natural exfoliation. Washing your face allows the natural exfoliation process of shedding your skin, which will prevent your skin from looking dull. If you also include an exfoliator while washing, it will encourage healthier and glowing skin.
- Remove Chemicals – Most makeup products are full of different types of chemicals. If you let those chemicals stay on your skin for an extended period of time, it just allows them to penetrate and could cause damage in the long run.
Here are some tips for the best way to remove your makeup the right way.
- Pour your makeup remover on a Swisspers® Premium Cotton Round and then gently apply it to your skin, face and neck with delicate, gliding strokes.
- Let the remover stay on your skin for a minute or two to allow the makeup to dissolve completely.
- Using a very light touch, use a new clean round wipe to wipe off the makeup remover.
- With a third clean cotton round, moisten with water and use the same gliding strokes to remove any leftover makeup remover.
- Wash and exfoliate your face with your usual facial cleanser along with an exfoliating cotton pad or exfoliating sponge and gently pat dry with a clean, soft towel.
Take your pledge now to sleep makeup free. I made my pledge and I’m sticking with the blondes and staying makeup free! Be sure to come back next week to find out if Danielle or Emily (the blonde or the brunette team) won the Face Off challange.
