Every year, as the weather begins to shift from Summer to Fall, I slowly pack up all my flip flops and sandals and begin wearing more and more boots. Not only because it is a nice change from the constant summer shoe, but also because they tend to transition extremely well from sundresses and shorts to pants and sweaters without any fuss.
1. The Cowboy Boot
Call me a sucker for the Wild West but Cowboy boots are one of my favorite. They are classics that are never going to go out of style. Frye Boots are my favorite with it comes to a classic boot and definitely worth the investment. My Frye “Harness” boots were purchased in 2004, have been worn a million times and look brand new. It is almost like they get better with age.
2. The Over the Knee Boot
Yes we may all recall Julia Roberts and her over the knee boot in “Pretty Woman” but this style has come a long way from the streets. When put on a flat heel and in a classic color, these boots look amazing over a pair of leggings or skinny jeans. I purchased a pair a few years ago that can be worn both over the knee and rolled down and they are one of the most versatile shoes that I own.
Yes, I understand this boot is not as practical for wet weather but when have our purchases always been practical? I love the boots with open sides and alternative designs, creating a little edge to the traditional boot. These are also the perfect boots to wear now with cut offs and a tank but will transition to skinny jeans and jackets without a problem.
4. The Lace Up Boot
I am going to come out and say it. These are the boots I love to look at but have not developed the guts to wear. Perhaps this is the season. For all of those who can pull these off, I am incredibly jealous!
5. The Riding Boot
A Classic. Just as the Cowboy boot is to casual, the Riding boot is to sophistication. Paired with a sleek pair of leggings or skinny jeans, these boots are easy to wear, always look amazing and create a beautiful clean line to any simple Fall outfit. If you are looking for classic and chic, these are for you.
6. The Slouchy Boot
With the feeling of a cowboy boot but with a little more edge, the slouchy boot (especially with these buckles!) creates the perfect urban chic look. Paired with a dress for now and jeans for later, they are a style than can work year round.
