I keep hearing that everyone who claims to be a psychic is scammer or a con artist. But my experience proves this isn’t true. I found my psychic reader a year ago, grieving the end of a six-year relationship and desperately looking for help moving on. A psychic reading obviously wasn’t my first choice, yet unexpectedly, it became the thing that helped me get through a breakup and rediscover my lost joy. So, in case someone else out there would like to try it but is hesitant to take a leap of faith, I want to share my story.
There’s Nothing Wrong with Seeking Help in Unconventional Places
It makes perfect sense that a lot of people don’t take psychics seriously. I get it; I’ve been there. After all, that’s what the media shows us—there’s no such thing as extrasensory perception, all psychics are liars, yada yada yada. Perhaps that’s the truth even. But my response is, why does it matter?
When we find ourselves in a dark place, like I did, all we want and need is to feel better. In my case, it was a few sessions with a psychic that started the long-overdue healing process. So, I guess I’m trying to say, why deny help from unexpected places? If a psychic reading can potentially help you, go for it.
This needs to be said because there’s a lot of shame and stigma attached to all things psychics. I’d secretly considered reading for months before I finally mastered the courage. It took me so long because my friends kept raising their eyebrows condescendingly whenever I would bring this up. I felt stupid and inadequate, and I shouldn’t have.
So, if you’re in the same place I was, please don’t listen to anyone and just do it. Or better even, don’t tell anyone you’re thinking of seeing a psychic. Your journey is yours and your only; no one knows what is better for you than you.
Good Psychics Are Exceptional Listeners
Sometimes, the main reason people want to see a psychic isn’t for their special powers per se but for a chance to talk to someone openly and feel heard. I know this was at least partly the case for me. Sure, when I stumbled upon a free psychic love reading, I was interested in stuff like energy and aura as well. But I mostly wanted someone to listen to me without judgment or excessive pressure.
Sadly, this wasn’t my experience with a therapist, which was the reason why I first thought of a psychic reading. What I discovered was that psychics are fantastic, empathetic listeners. I’d never felt so fully understood and accepted before. The rest—for example, an aura cleansing that made me feel like I was reborn—was just a pleasant bonus.
I suspect that the stigma and misconceptions about what they do are part of what makes psychic readers such unparalleled listeners. They know first-hand what it feels like to be judged and misunderstood, so they go out of their way to make sure that their clients never experience the same when talking to them.
A Psychic Reading Can Help—Even if You’re Skeptical
In no way am I trying to say that there’s something wrong with being skeptical about psychics and psychic readings. I was a skeptic, too. It would be strange if I weren’t, seeing as most people in my life were adamant about psychics being a complete waste of time and money. I was a product of my environment (including media), as any of us is.
But if you have at least an ounce of faith in you, I say give it a try. Psychics are used to working with people who harbor at least some doubt about the legitimacy of what they do; they are fine with that. They won’t shame you or try to convince you that everything you believe in is wrong. Instead, they’ll simply do their job well to change your mind.
Luckily, a psychic reading can and will work even if you aren’t a full-on believer. If nothing else, you’ll have a refreshing conversation with someone who genuinely listens and doesn’t jump to conclusions. But more likely, you’ll also learn more about yourself, discover new ways to connect with your loved ones, or find the path to healing, depending on what you’re after.
But You Might Not Get Lucky on the First Try—Unless You Research Well
The only word of caution I have for everyone who is curious about psychic readings is that not all of them are created equal. If you chase the lowest price, chances are, you’ll end up with someone who’ll confirm every bad thing you’ve ever heard about psychics.
My recommendation would be to spend enough time researching your options. Make a list of the most well-known and seemingly reliable platforms for psychic readings. Shortlist a few psychics who have the best reviews and resonate with you based on the information in their profiles. Do everything in your power to make your first-ever psychic reading a success.
An Afterword
I’m not saying that psychic readings are something that everyone needs, especially not over therapy. But given how life-changing they’ve been for me, it pains me to see so many people dismissing psychics without giving them a chance. And if you’ve been secretly considering a reading, I hope I’ve convinced you.
