This time can come so fast. Your little girl is going to her first prom. So now what? It is sad and super happy at the same time. Here are some things to consider when helping your daughter get ready for one of her most special nights.
Choosing The Dress
The first step is choosing the right dress. A prom dress will really make you stand out so you will want to choose something both glamorous and beautiful. You could look at a jovani prom dress, choose the color and style that suits you. Do you want sequins or do you want silk? What material do you prefer and what will look good. Materials such as silk can look mature and this will make you feel incredibly special but you could also look at cotton, which can be embroidered and is a great base material. Certain colors can also make you feel more mature. Nudes and neutrals have a chic look or you could opt for a pale blue or green which can look chic. Pinks and purples are most definitely the traditional prom colours but it doesn’t mean you have to stick to this. Wear a color that makes you feel confident, that will be key!
This part is so fun to do with your daughter. Make a day of it and maybe do some lunch. Let her choose what she likes with gentle input from you. Let her choose that will allow her to feel empowered and beautiful.
Choosing The Shoes & Accessories
Shoes can make you feel sophisticated but as a younger girl, you probably steer away from heels and wear comfies. As you get older and approaching your thirties, you can probably appreciate the benefits of heels and how empowered they can make you feel. Wearing some lovely matching heels can look incredibly beautiful. You could also wear a more neutral shoe, and wear a white shoe that will go with any color. How you choose to accessorise will really heighten the look. Do you want to make a big impact?
Jewelry can really boost your look, diamonds and pearls are incredibly showy but you can also wear them as a more understated piece, dainty smaller pieces can look cute and they can look just as effective. If you chose to bring a handbag, you need to ensure you can fit all of your little amenities such as lipstick, phone, money, hairbrush. A clutch bag is incredibly chic and mature, it will give you something to hold if you’re feeling anxious also. A strap bag can be easier to carry but make sure they match well with your outfit and you’re good to go!
Makeup
This can also be a lot of fun with your daughter. Playing with some different looks and dramatics for the special night. Some practice sessions could be in order to make sure it is what she will feel comfortable with (and you too.)
Hair
Hair is a lot different these days then when I went to school. We would always go to the salon for an updo. I know kids these days like to do a little more natural and leave their hair down. If you do want to do a special occasion look and make it part of the day, take her to a salon for a blow out.
