It can be hard to leave home. Whether you are leaving for school, work, or just to get out of your hometown, it can be hard to leave a part of yourself behind. But even though you are leaving behind something you know well, the excitement and rush of something new makes up for that loss in a big way. Read on to learn more about why it might be best for you to leave your hometown.
You’ll Be Independent
There’s a limit to what you can do when you stay in your comfort zone and have access to all kinds of conveniences without having to do much. Moving away from your hometown will give you a sense of independence that you can’t get from anything else.
The US Bureau of Statistics says that by the age of 27, 90 percent of adults have moved out of their childhood home. Instead of relying on others to help you and getting lazy and less resourceful on your own, moving when you’re young will give you the confidence and skills you need to deal with stressful situations, which are an inevitable part of life.
You’ll Be Less Scared
We can’t do a lot of things because we’re afraid. Nothing is easy these days, but most of the time, what stops us from achieving our ultimate dream is fear. Once you realize that fear is just an emotion that can be overcome with one small step in the right direction – or a larger one if you’re moving interstate – you will feel stronger. You will see that nothing can stop you from reaching your dreams if you work hard.
You’ll Become More Resourceful
Because you will be on your own for all the not-so-fun parts of being an adult, like making rent, paying bills, and doing laundry, you will quickly become more independent and resourceful.
Don’t be scared by this situation. Instead, think about how good it will feel to be able to do things on your own. When you run into problems along the way, you will learn to trust yourself more to figure out a solution. You will also find that you are much more resourceful than you thought you were.
You’ll Gain A New Perspective
If you’ve only lived in one or two places your whole life, you’ve only been around people with similar views to your own. Meeting new people in a new place gives you a chance to see how other people think. You can learn a lot from people who didn’t go to the same high school as you, aren’t used to living the way you do, and didn’t grow up in the same town or state as you.
Who knows, if you’re open to other points of view, you might learn something new about yourself or your view of life.
You Can Have A Fresh Start
A new start, a clean slate, a new page, or however you want to say it. It is always a good reason to try to change who you are. If you are sick of your life and unhappy with it, move on to something else. If you leave your hometown and see more of the world, you’ll realize how big it is and how many opportunities are out there for you.
Also, some of us just need something different. We need a change of scenery and a new place. Some people are born into situations that aren’t very good for them. Or the people you are around and not helping to build you. Everything can be better if you move somewhere else.
