When Girl Meets 30

6 Must Haves for Traveling During That Time of the Month

August 15, 2015 By Erin Kennedy Leave a Comment

Sometimes you can’t help it, you plan and plan and maybe even try to plan your days around your vacay with no avail. It is getting towards the end of summer and we are all (hopefully) trying to plan a last minute vacation before we start the fall. I remember for months trying to plan out my honeymoon to not coincide with our honeymoon, but I still ran into some the end of our honeymoon needing some pads and tampons.

We all know as women by now, it is not the end of the world to be on your period and on vacation. However, there are some things that we can be sure to bring just to make those days easier to deal with while trying to relax and enjoy the vacation that you have been looking forward to.

Bring or wear loose clothing. Especially if you are flying and it is that time of the month. This is also something you will want to have if you are walking a lot around a city you’re visiting. Opt for darker pants or shorts in case you have a leak.

Pack an extra pair of underwear or pants. Just in case that leakage happens, you want to have the extra pair, especially packed in your carry-on while flying.

Stay hydrated. This can help with bloating, cramping and any headaches you might get. Bottle water is the best bet if you are out of the country, and water is a much better idea than any caffeinated options on your flight which can just exasperate your PMS symptoms.

Pack painkillers. Aceraminophen or ibprophen will help the most. I pack mine in a little snack baggie and keep them in my purse. They are always a life saver for me and my brutal cramps.

Snacks. On the plane or hotel, you might find only salty snacks that can only make bloating worse. Pack something that will keep your hunger satisfied, but also not make your symptoms worse. I like to pack salt-free nuts and dried fruit.

Pack the right kind of protection. There are a lot of options out there for pads, tampons or pantyliners, but it is best to choose the right brand that will keep your panties from those stains that never come out. Kotex is all about saving the undies.

I like:
