Boy, not sure where all the time has gone. That’s what they say about pregnancy right? It goes so slow, but then over before you know it. This pregnancy has not been easy. The last update I gave was for 28 week update. Just a couple of days after I posted that update, I was hospitalized for a kidney infection. I was hospitalized for 3 1/2 days. I was shocked it was such a big deal. The worst part is that I didn’t have any symptoms beforehand that it was a UTI or bladder infection let alone a kidney infection.
What I lean red about this hospital stay is that an infection can cause your body to go into labor. I had no idea. When your white blood count gets too high, it is trying to fight off your infection and it can think that your baby is an infection and will try to get rid of it by causing you to go into labor. My count was quite high, and that is why I was admitted and not released for so many days. I couldn’t believe it. I did have some contractions, but the antibiotics through IV helped to not have me go into labor. Luckily I went to the ER as soon as I felt the back pain I am familiar with from having a kidney infection. I have had one before. Talk about pain!
From that experience I decided to move from my Obstetrician to a Midwife. I am going to dedicate a blog post to why I decided to move in my third trimester and how it has been since.
Since then my pregnancy has had a lot of ups and downs. I have had a ton of PGP (Pelvic girdle pain.) Pain in your pelvic bone and it hurts a ton with walking or moving. I saw a chiropractor for that pain and it helped so much.
I have since been diagnosed with high blood pressure. My midwife is concerned because of Pre-clampsia, but I don’t have any symptoms of that yet. However, I see her twice a week now for weekly ultra-sounds and Non-stress tests. I am also on high blood pressure meds. So a lot going on. If this little lady doesn’t come before 39 weeks, I will be induced. So this little girl will be here in two weeks or less! I can’t believe it, and still can’t wrap my head around it.
Other that that, I have mad acid reflux. Oh boy. It keeps me up at night and thus, I throw up every morning again. So that is sure something. This has been a lot of throwing up kind of pregnancy.
Sleeping is getting harder, I wake up about every hour to pee. And then of course my acid reflux hell. I just keep reminding myself, “less than two weeks.”
I wanted to share some pics of me pregnant, but I just haven’t taken any. I see these other bloggers who are dressed to the 9’s in their 37th week, and kudos to them. I just don’t have that kind of energy. My birthday is this weekend. The goal is to take a pregnancy pic! I won’t be glamorous however, I just can’t deal.
How Far Along: 37 weeks
Weight Gain Total: 16 lbs. I can’t gain weight to save my life in this pregnancy. However, as soon as I give birth, I will probably be right back to my weight gaining ways.
Sleep: Trying the best I can to get more than 2 hours uninterrupted sleep. Maybe just preparing me for those nightly feedings. Sleeping with pillow in between my knees has helped. I didn’t get a pregnancy pillow, so not sure it that would be better, but I like the pillow.
Feeling: Braxton hicks have started. They are not fun. Sometimes she starts them by all her moving around. I don’t think I will be good in labor, because I am already struggling with these Braxton Hicks, and they are supposed to be nothing. I am in trouble!
Movement: She moves a lot. Like a lot. Sometimes it is nuts to see her move from one side of my stomach to the other!
Baby size: They say size of Swiss Chard. I assume length wise. She should be 19 inches long. Last week on the ultra sound she was 5 lbs. I am hoping she is at least 6 lbs when I have my ultrasound on Monday.
Mood: No crying. Not much at all during this pregnancy. But I do get annoyed easily. Like so easily. Probably not good for the high blood pressure.
Food cravings: Still waiting. I guess I just won’t have them. I don’t really like to eat because of the acid reflux. So yeah.
Food aversions: Completely gone.
This week: Busy. Trying to work a little less so I will be ready to dedicate time to labor and baby. Not sure what to expect, but super excited.
