Holiday Makeup – Shine Bright Like a Diamond

December 22, 2016 By Erin Kennedy Leave a Comment

The season of holiday parties has finally begun! It’s time to sparkle. That’s right, I’m talking glitter, glitter and more glitter. Since this season everything is about glitter, I will show you how you can add glitter to any look and make it way more fun and expressive. Here is how to shine like a diamond this season, enjoy.

The “natural” look

Oh come on, nobody puts 3 tons of makeup to look the same. This look is called natural only because you aren’t using strong colors. Here is how to do this.

Face

Put on a light powder and hide zits and eye bags with a concealer. Set it with setting powder and add some blush on your cheeks.

Eyes

Use a light orangish eye shadow, put on some mascara and add some subtle glitter in the inside corner of your eyes for a little pop. Go easy on your eyebrows and just fill them a little bit. Put some highlighter underneath and you are good to go.

Lips

Use a light pink lip pencil and cover it all with transparent lip gloss.

Strong eyes

This look is for a little bolder ones. The key is that the first thing people see when they look at you are your eyes.

Face

Your face has to follow your eyes because if it doesn’t – you will look like a doll. Go hard on powder to even your skin tone, put some bronzer to accentuate your cheekbones and go wild with highlighter (which goes on the highest part of your cheeks, cupid’s bow and underneath your eyebrows). Finish it all off with some blush.

Eyes

Here is where the fun starts. When it comes to eyebrows, give them all of your love. And when it comes to eyes, you have many different options depending on your eye shape, but the most universal method of them all is a smoky eye. When you do your magic and create a smoky eye look, spice it up by putting glitter over your lids and see yourself becoming a fairy princess. Finish it off with an eyeliner wing and some fake lashes. Meow!

Lips

Since this look is all about eyes, go easy on your lips. A light, soft baby pink or even a skin color lip gloss is more than enough.

Strong lips

Here we go full reverse. Here it is all about lips. I like to call this one: The unicorn kiss, you’ll see why (wink).

Face

Just like for the eye look, your face mustn’t be forgotten. Take time to contour, highlight and “bake”.

Eyes

We are taking it easy this time. A simple light brown smoky eye and some mascara will be more than enough – just to give your eyes some love.

Lips

It’s time to take out the big guns: red lipstick! That’s right, spread it all over and when you’re done, take a glitter glue and put it over the made up lips. After that, take your red glitter box and just push your lips in it, or as I like to say, give them some love and kiss them. Take a brush and remove the excess glitter from around your lips and spread the ones on them evenly. Voila!

Red carpet type of makeup

We are entering the heavy makeup zone. This can take you a while (at least an hour), so you might want to start making up as early as possible. Here, EVERYTHING needs to be on point.

Face

Take your contouring kit and contour the hell out of your face. I’m talking base powder, dark and light concealers for contouring and highlighting. Set it all with loose powder and finish off with a matte contour palette. Go crazy with highlighter – glow like a disco ball. And let’s not forget about the blush and bronzer as well.

Eyes

Now that your face looks ready for a red carpet event, it’s time to make your eyes ready as well. After drawing your eyebrows and making them “on fleek”, put all of you in your eyes. A black smoky eye with black, silver or gold glitter, winged eyeliner and fake eyelashes will definitely draw all of the attention to you.

Lips

Red and black lip pencils are your friends. I suggest you to try out the ombre lip effect by putting black lip pencil in the corners of your lips and red one in the middle. Go over it with a matte blood red lipstick and you are good to go.

That sums up holiday looks for this season. Make sure you try them out and don’t forget to have fun while doing it. Happy holidays, love!
