As we all have experienced, you learn a lot about yourself and your life during your 20s. Niki is the Love for 30 Project contributor this week and as she reflects on her 20s. She realizes what obstacles made her strong and who the woman she is today.

What I have learned in my 30+ years on Earth….
Your twenties are really your mistake years. These years you will make some not so good decisions, make some mistakes, but you will also start to make good decisions and learn valuable things.
I got married when I was 20, almost 21. When I had been married for 16 months, my husband had to go live in Korea for a year.
From this, I learned how strong I truly am. I can be independent, I can do what needs to be done, and take care of the family and house.
All during my twenties, I had to be a “single-mom” for a few weeks to a month at a time. I survived a couple deployments, and each experience made me stronger.
Now that I am in my thirties, I have found that I value the strength and independence more so now than I did in my twenties.
Being a military spouse, you have to learn how to be independent fast, because your spouse will be gone a lot.
My husband is getting ready to be deploying soon. So once again I will be a “single mom” for six months. My husband will do his best to help me parent the kids, but his main job and priority is to come home safe.
I am blessed to be close to my mom, so I have the luxury of getting a chance to recuperate once a month in order to help me be the best mom I can be.
I will be 34 years old this year, and I am proud to be a Strong-Independent-Woman, who can handle most things that life throws at me. I am by no means perfect. I will never be perfect, but I am the way I need to be, as a strong woman, a strong wife, a strong mom, a strong college student.
So thank you twenties for helping me see how strong I truly am, and thank you thirties and beyond for helping me to stay strong.
I learned that being thirty is not a bad thing at all. It is nothing to be ashamed of, age is just a number. Be proud of who you are and what you are becoming.
I recently re-realized what my true passion in life is. I have always wanted to be a teacher and I forgot that over the years.
I am currently back in college, will graduate in Dec 2014 with my Bachelors in Political Science. I plan to teach social studies.
I am looking forward to continuing to learn about who I am and also teaching my kids to embrace their true personalities, quirks and all. Life is too short to worry about labels, ages, and other crap that does not matter.
