When Girl Meets 30

Staying Healthy and Getting My Calcium with Viactiv #BeActive

February 13, 2015 By Erin Kennedy Leave a Comment

Are you taking care of yourself? I mean really taking care of yourself and well-being? Once we are in our 30s, it is so easy to worry about what is going on with everyone else and being the caretaker. But we easily forget ourselves.

We need to start making ourselves a priority. I know, I know. That is easier said than done when the kids are screaming for more milk, or our boss is screaming for the finished reports. There are things we can do to help keep ourselves healthy to live a long and healthy life.

As I get older, being healthy and staying healthy has become more of a priority. I try to make time to #BeActive and take care of myself with vitamin supplements.

I have finally had the chance to discover Viactiv soft chews. I have heard good things about them from some friends in the past, but I am glad I had the chance to actually try them, and I am officially hooked.

I try to keep my diet (avoid these 4 diet mistakes) in check and keep out the sweets.

For me, enjoying a Viactiv soft chew or gummy is like a treat at the end of the day, and the bonus is that it is giving me the calcium that I need. Not to mention the chews and gummies include vitamin D and K.

It is super important that we work on getting our recommended daily calcium. Especially at our age. 70% of women are calcium deficient and while we get calcium from food sources, most of the time it is still not enough to meet the requirement. Our body does not make calcium so we must get it from other sources.

Now that we have reached our 30s, our bodies have reached 100% of our bone mass peak.

A diet (avoid these 4 diet mistakes) low in calcium contributes to diminished bone density, early bone loss and an increased risk of fractures and can also eventually lead to osteopenia and osteoporosis.

Here is a chart with an easy way to find out if you are getting enough calcium with this chart. It varies with stage/age.

Let’s get to the good stuff. The yummy flavors of Viactiv. One soft chews or gummies taken twice daily provides 100% of the daily value of calcium for most women. Plus the vitamins D & K. Vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium more efficiently.

Three ways to healthy bones:

  • Getting the recommended dose of calcium from fruits and vegetables.
  • Exercising, which includes cardio and bone strengthening exercises.
  • Supplementing when diet is not enough.

This is my favorite way to #BeActive. I love riding my cute bicycle. with my husband. It is so fun, and I know it is good exercise.
