What Can Hotel Rooms Teach Us About Bedroom Design?

March 12, 2025 By Erin Kennedy Leave a Comment

Is there any better feeling than walking into a pristine hotel room that’s well-designed and guaranteed to give you a great night’s sleep? We don’t think so. Nowadays, the great setup of hotel rooms is so iconic that some of us will even book a night’s stay just to catch up on some much-needed shut-eye.

Unsurprisingly, then, a lot of homeowners are beginning to realize that hotel rooms might hold a few secrets that we could benefit from bringing back to our bedrooms at home.

If your bedroom isn’t cutting it on the sleep or enjoyment front right now, then you could certainly do a lot worse than considering the following vital lessons that are fresh from the best-designed hotel rooms.

# 1 – Splash out on Bedding
It turns out that hotel room secrets aren’t secret after all, because the best way to recreate hotel comfort at home is to simply invest in higher quality bedding.

Designer hotels don’t skimp on bedding in any area, and will come complete with goose down duvets and special touches like silk pillowcases. This is what guarantees us a great night of sleep in many instances, and it’s something well worth recreating at home.

Hotels also don’t hold onto their bedding for extended periods. Instead, they follow expert recommendations for replacing additions like duvets at least every five years. This ensures endless nights of great sleep, and is again something you can easily start doing in your own bedroom!

# 2 – Don’t be Afraid of the Unexpected
You don’t just get a bed when you book a designer hotel room, you get an entirely curated space that’s often brimming with unexpected, but undeniably welcome features. For instance, hotel rooms are perhaps the first place where bedroom bathtubs came into their own. Equally, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a hotel room without seating options that could include tables and chairs, or more substantial, sleek additions like a full-blown sofa or chaise lounge.

As well as looking the part, these additions ensure that hotel rooms are fully functional, and they could serve the same purpose in your bedroom. While not everyone will want to go all-out with a bedroom bathtub (though more power to you if you feel like it!), the simple act of choosing seating options like these two seater sofas at CFS will be enough to bring a little of that hotel luxury home. You may even find that you start spending more time here when you can enjoy these iconic additions.

# 3 – Create Atmosphere Using Lighting
Nothing is accidental in a hotel room, and that includes lighting options that typically aim to ensure an ambient, romantic vibe through things like warm bulb choices and textured lighting options including bedroom lamps.
Recreate this in your own bedroom by replacing your stark or bare bulbs with softer alternatives, or choosing indirect options like cove lighting and fabric-covered lamps.

If you always get your best night’s sleep in a hotel room, it’s probably worth injecting these hotel design focuses at home.
